The United States is one of the world's most ethnically diverse nations that includes over thirty ancestry groups. This diversity is the result of large-scale immigration from other countries. A 2001 private survey revealed that 76.5% of the United States population considers themselves Christian (52% Protestant and 24.5% Catholic). The leading non-Christian faiths are Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Unitarian Universalism.
Many people do not think of their own country as being a mission field, but in reality, it is a mission field that we enter everyday. United States' missions not only focuses on reaching neighbors and coworkers, but due to enormous ethnic diversity great opportunities exist for foreign missionaries to come to the United States and spread the word of Jesus Christ to their own people.
